HormonesEndocrinology is the study of hormones. Hormones are essential for our every-day survival. They control our temperature, sleep, mood, stress, growth and more.

There are many organs in the body which produce hormones including the pituitary gland, adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, ovaries and testes to name a few. Too much or too little of a hormone can cause illness.

Common endocrine conditions include:

  • Adrenal disorders including Addison’s disease
  • Glucose disorders including hypoglycaemia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pituitary gland disorders
  • Parathyroid gland disorders/ calcium problems
  • Hypogonadism/low testosterone problems
  • Menstrual function or fertility disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Thyroid disorders
